The reading keeps jumping

Meter shows the middle of its most recent readings, so it settles when the light and the phone hold still. A badge stuck at LOW means those readings disagree, from movement, mixed light, clipping or flicker.

Step by step

1. Hold the phone still, or rest it on something.
2. Fill the frame with one light, or use GRAY CARD with a card filling it.
3. Keep the exposure away from the extremes. HIST shows clipping.
4. After moving to a new light, touch and hold the readout to start over.
5. Tap LOCK to hold a number while you write it down.

If that didn't work

If DIFFICULT SOURCE shows, the light itself is the cause, and waiting will not settle it. A pulsing light makes the estimate swing; look for the orange flicker line.
