What HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW mean

The badge says how settled and clean the reading is. HIGH means the latest readings agree closely and nothing in the frame is in the way; it is a sign of a steady reading, and no promise that the number is right.

Step by step

  1. Hold still. The badge is worked out from how much the most recent readings spread.
  2. Keep the exposure near the middle. A frame more than half a stop off holds the badge at MEDIUM, and a whole stop off at LOW.
  3. Keep clipped highlights and deep shadows out of the frame, or fill it with a gray card. HIST shows them.
  4. On GRAY CARD, light the card evenly, with one kind of light.

If that didn't work

A detected flicker holds the badge at MEDIUM, and so does a RAW measurement that disagrees with the live reading by more than 15 mired. The ring around LOG takes the badge's color, so you can see it at arm's length.
