Find a flicker-safe shutter for 50 Hz or 60 Hz power

Open RIG, set Mains to the power where you are shooting, and read the Flicker-safe row. It always names a safe shutter for your frame rate, for example 1/50 is safe on 50 Hz power.

Step by step

  1. Tap the sliders button at the end of the strip under the reading to open RIG.
  2. Under CAMERA, set Mains to 50 or 60 Hz. Meter starts from your device's region, and in Japan it starts on 50.
  3. Read the Flicker-safe row. If your shutter is not safe, it names the nearest one that is.
  4. Set that shutter, or tap USE on the orange line when the meter shows one.

If that didn't work

A shutter is safe when it takes in a whole number of flicker cycles. Meter assumes lights on the mains flicker at twice the mains, 100 times a second on 50 Hz and 120 on 60 Hz. A light on a battery or its own driver can pulse at another rate, so test on the camera.
